KIDD LEGACY INDEPENDENTS (Reference Number KLL/LND.T)

Kidd Legacy being part of Central Park Dartford (Registered Charity No. 4013609)

Independent Persons sought to work alongside elected Councillors managing a charity held on trust by The Dartford Borough Council for the people of Dartford

In 1903, an area of land adjoining Central Park Dartford was bequeathed on charitable trust, by Colonel Charles Newman Kidd, to the Urban District Council of Dartford and on local government reorganisation in 1974, the trusteeship passed to The Dartford Borough Council. The Objects of the charity require the land to be held on trust by the Council for recreational purposes. The land is commonly referred to locally, as the Kidd Legacy land or Kidd Legacy charity.

We are seeking candidates who are team players, with energy, enthusiasm and commercial acumen, who will demonstrate a commitment to good governance and sound financial management, who will act solely in the best interests of the charity and who will work with and alongside elected Councillors in managing the Kidd Legacy land, for the people of Dartford.

Whilst applications from any interested persons are welcome, candidates with knowledge of horticulture, parks and open spaces management, sports and leisure, law, neighbourhood user groups, previous experience as a charity trustee and/or former local authority officers may make an effective contribution to the charity in terms of skill and experience.

Applicants must not within the period of five years, have been a councillor, co-opted member or employee of The Dartford Borough Council or be a relative or close friend of an elected councillor, employee or co-opted member of the Council.

The appointment is initially for a 4 year term. Payment of out of pocket expenses will be made by the Council (in its corporate capacity) and not the charity. Committee meetings are held as and when required, in the evenings. Induction, training and on-going support will be provided to enable successful candidates to carry out their duties effectively.

If you think you have the qualities we require and are interested in applying, please refer below to the information pack and application form (which on request, can be made available in large type or Braille or on tape), or email david.hook@dartford.gov.uk
